BOCC Board meeting for April 9 available to view

Citrus County, Florida-- Despite some technical audio difficulties during the regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, the entire meeting is now available to view at the Citrus County Clerk’s website http://citruscountyfl.iqm2.com/Citizens/default.aspx.  There was an internet connection issue in the Courthouse.

The agenda and back-up materials are also available online.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Meet

Citrus County, Florida-- On Tuesday, March 19, 2013 the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will meet at 5 p.m. in room 166 of the Lecanto Government Building.  

The committee was formed to improve the housing situation in Citrus County by studying and developing projects, coordinating with county staff and by making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.  

On the agenda will be Hardest Hit, SHIP, CDBG, NSP 1 and 3, Section 8, Shelter Plus Care and Emergency Solutions Grant.

HIllsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Property Appraisers office wants to remind everyone that the deadline to apply for homestead exemption or agriculture classification is fast approaching. Residents have until March 1st to file the required forms.

TAMPA – Property owners in Hillsborough County seeking to lower their taxes through either homestead exemption or agriculture classification have until Friday, March 1 to file the required forms with the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser’s Office.

Sovereign Path, Room #166, Lecanto.  Members of the Board will discuss and review customer complaint surveys, rate case updates, along with other items on the agenda.

Commissioners approve to explore alternative revenue sources

Citrus County, Florida-- In a 4-1 vote, Commissioners approved a motion to explore alternative revenue sources such as Municipal Services Benefit Units (MSBU) and Municipal Service Taxing Units (MSTU) during the regular board meeting of the Board of County Commissioners Tuesday. 

Commissioners are trying to find other ways to bring revenue into the County, without relying on one taxpayer such as Progress Energy/Duke.

Planning and Development Commission to meet February 7

Citrus County, Florida-- The Citrus County Planning and Development Commission (PDC) will meet Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 9 a.m. in room 166 in the Lecanto Government Building.  

This Board reviews development applications and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on changes to the Citrus County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code. The PDC has final action on Variance and Conditional Use applications. The PDC also provides direction to staff regarding land use amendments as well as test amendments on development issues.
