Fugitive sought for attempted murder

Brooksville, Florida -- Brooksville Police are searching for a man wanted in the attempted murder of two people at Brook Haven Apartments early Tuesday morning.

Police say Kyle Chunn and Lacie Swan entered the apartment complex around 1:50 a.m. in a stolen Nissan Altima. They parked and approached two men who were standing near the rear parking lot. An argument broke out and Chunn and Swan got back in the car and drove off.

"It's just so sad," Welch says of reports of a Tampa mother leaving her 7-month-old in a bathtub.

Citrus baby's death ruled a homicide

Hernando, Florida -- The Citrus County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl.

Deputies were called to a home on Friday, where Aliyah Marie Branum was reportedly in distress. The toddler was taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

On Monday the Medical Examiner's Office ruled Aliyah's death a homicide.

Detectives continue to investigate, and there's no word on any arrests at this time.

Mother arrested in death of her infant son

Lecanto, Florida -- Citrus County deputies arrested a Inverness mother Monday afternoon in the death of her 6-month-old son.

The sheriff's office says Brittany Arnett and her boyfriend brought Hadley Arnett to Citrus Memorial Hospital the morning of Jan. 28. When Hadley arrived, officials say he was neither responsive nor breathing. Medical staff tried for over an hour to revive him, but were unsuccessful.

Woman killed by hit-and-run driver

Homosassa, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a hit-and-run driver who hit a woman as she was walking along the side of West Rosedale Drive last night.

FHP says 54-year-old Doreen Ashley was walking along the outside portion of eastbound West Rosedale Drive when she was hit by the car.

She was left for dead. Citrus County Sheriff's deputies discovered her body New Year's Eve.

FHP is asking anyone with information to call Corporal Parnell at 352-796-6767.

2 sentenced to decades in prison for multiple armed robberies

Inverness, Florida -- A U.S. District Judge sentenced two people to a combined 61 years in prison for their roles in four armed robberies in Citrus County in 2011.

According to court documents, Inverness residents Aberlardo Coimbre and Anthony Calderon committed four separate armed robberies which included Inverness Liquor on Jan. 28; Bob's Liquor in Crystal River on Feb. 16; Express Lane Food Store in Floral City in Feb. 23 and Brad's Food and Gas in Inverness in Feb. 25.

County proclaims Crime Prevention Month

On Sept. 25, the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation to Sergeant Chris Evan, McGruff --The Crime Fighting Dog, and Captain Doug Dodd at their regular meeting proclaiming October 2012 as “Crime Prevention Month” in Citrus County.

The vitality of our county depends on how safe we keep our homes, neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and communities.
