Florida State Parks announces new, free mobile app

Florida-- Trees, lakes, trails, wildlife- they're all things that come to mind when thinking about Florida's parks. Techonology, smartphones and applications, howeverm are probably the last things to come to mind- until now!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.

Informational meeting on proposed sanitary sewer system

Homosassa, Florida -- The Citrus County Department of Water Resources will be holding an informational meeting on Jan. 29 to provide citizens with information regarding a proposed sanitary sewer system along West Fishbowl Drive and Spring Cove Road.

Maps of the proposed project will be on display and County staff will be available to answer questions after details have been presented. 

Citrus County encourages you to attend the meeting to learn how your property may be affected and have any concerns with regard to the proposed project addressed.  

Fort Cooper Days

Fort Cooper Days

Inverness, FL-- Fort Cooper Days are set to take place on March 16 and 17 at Fort Cooper State Park.

Experience Florida history during the Second Seminole War re-enactments, which will be held twice daily- once at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m.

The reenactments will depict events that took place during the construction of the fort at the park.

Period Military & Seminole camps will be open for visitors to explore, and living History demonstrations will also be held throughout the day.

'Monsters and Aliens' showing this Saturday

Lecanto, Florida -- Citrus County Parks and Recreation is inviting you to bring the whole family out for a fun and free event under the stars.

"Monsters vs. Aliens" will be shown at Lecanto Community Park on Saturday, Nov. 10.

The movie starts at 7:15 p.m.

Citrus County libraries celebrate 25 years

Citrus County libraries celebrate 25 years

The Citrus County Library System is kicking off a Silver Celebration to commemorate 25 years of reading, learning, and exploring. 

Each library branch will host a special open house event beginning Nov. 9 and running through Dec. 7.

There will be educational, informational and cultural classes and activities throughout the day at each branch. There will be something for all ages including live music, historical storytelling, arts and crafts, and local authors.
