Citrus County, Florida-- Funds are still available for the Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP). This is a sister program of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

The winter months (heating season) is coming to an end, and staff is trying to use remaining funds before March 31.

Citrus County, Florida-- Housing Services will accept energy assistance applications on a walk-in basis for one day only.  Ordinarily applications for LIHEAP are accepted by appointment only due to the demand for assistance.

Crystal River, FL-- The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will offer a FREE Women's Fishing Clinic this coming Saturday. 

"Participants will not only take home a lifelong hobby, they will leave with a new appreciation for the marine environment. They will learn the basics of environmental stewardship, fishing ethics, angling skills, safety and the vulnerability of Florida’s marine ecosystems in a fun, laid-back learning atmosphere," explains a release about the clinic.

Lecanto, Florida -- The 2012 Healthy Living Fair will take place next Friday, November 9, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Citrus County Resource Center.  

Admission is free and there will be chances to win door prizes, receive free health screenings, information, demonstrations and product sampling. 

Flu shots will be available at the event through the Nature Coast EMS, free with Medicare Part B; if you have commercial insurance, check to see if it's covered, or plan to pay a nominal fee at the event.

County offers Emergency Home Energy Assistance for elderly

Citrus County, Florida -- Citrus County Support Services currently has funds available for the Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP). This is a sister program of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Income eligible clients who are 60 years and older are able to receive assistance once per season. There are two seasons in the year; The Cooling Season which runs April 1 to Sept. 30 and a Heating Season which runs Oct. 1 to March 31.

Citrus Co. Utilities Rebate Program

Citrus County, Florida-- Citrus County Utilities has kicked off the 2012 rebate program.

Utility customers are offered rebates of up to $100 on an annual basis as incentive to replace older, inefficient fixtures with new, high-efficiency products.

Qualifying products include replacing old toilets, rain sensors and clothes washing machines, as well as adding moisture sensors to irrigation systems.
