Tampa, Florida-- As the City of Tampa prepared for its first ever National Special Security Event, the Republican National Convention, the Tampa Police Department quietly deployed a cutting edge technology called SAFECOP to ensure citizens' safety.

It seems to have been successful, seeing that most cities typically have an increase in crime while law enforcement cover large scale events, and Tampa's crime rate actually dropped 26% during the RNC (even though there were 20% fewer detectives, crime analysts and plain clothes ROC officers on hand).

Citrus County, Fla. -- With the process of Port Citrus moving forward, the Port Authority wants to make sure every piece of available information about them is accessible to citizens.

While green may be one of the more common colors during the holiday season, the City of Inverness is Going Green all year round. 

New solar-powered compacting stations, as pictured here, were recently placed downtown.  The stations accommodate bottles, cans and paper recyclables on one side, and non-recyclable waste on the other.  Because of the compacting mechanism, the stations hold 5 times the amount of waste as a normal trash can.
