Traffic light at N Meadowcrest Blvd. and S.R. 44 now fully operational

Crystal River, Florida-- The new traffic signal at N. Meadowcrest Blvd. and S.R. 44 will be fully operational starting today, Wednesday, May 8. 

Meadowcrest is located east of Crystal River and is bordered by S.R. 44 and County Road 486. The light is on the south side of Meadowcrest on S.R. 44, in front of the Family Dollar store. 

According to the Board of County Commissioners, the opening of the West Citrus Government Center and the Family Dollar Store in the area resulted in the necessity of the signal.

Traffic Shift along CR 486 to start Friday, April 12

Citrus County, Florida-- Motorists driving along CR 486 need to be aware of a traffic shift starting Friday, April 12, 2012.

The contractor working on the CR 486 Road Widening project will be shifting traffic to the newly constructed pavement located to the north of the existing roadway from just east of SR44 at W. Shimmer Terr. to the end of the recently completed section of CR 486 (west of the recently opened Wal-Mart).

TBARTA invites you to talk transportation

Tampa Bay, Florida--  The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) invites residents from seven local counties to join in upcoming talks about the region's future transportation plans and priorities.

TBARTA reps say they will host telephone "TownHall meetings" for 10 days starting Monday, April 1.

An automated system will call between 40,000 and 80,000 per night to extend an invite to the forum, and then TBARTA reps will take it from there to answer questions and respond to comments.

Citrus County, Florida-- The traffic signal at the intersection of Pine Ridge Blvd. and County Road 486 will be put into flash Friday, March 29 while workers reconfigure for the new lanes. 

The contractor, D.A.B., will have the signal back to normal on Saturday, March 30.

Crystal River, Florida -- Traffic will be slow through the intersection of Meadowcrest Boulevard and State Road 44 in Crystal River as workers install poles for a new traffic signal. 

The temporary lane closures and traffic shifts through the work area will start on Tuesday, April 2 through Wednesday, April 3. 

Meadowcrest is located east of Crystal River and is bordered by State Road 44 and County Road 486. 

The light will be on the south side of Meadowcrest on State Road 44, in front of the Family Dollar store.

Citrus County, Florida-- The Florida Department of Transportation has announced non-construction closures for the week of March 24. 

They say the only one to worry about in Citrus this week is on a portion of State Road 44:

SR 44 between Tighe Road and Forest Avenue

  • Repaving – Nightly lane closures Sunday – Thursday from 8:00 pm to 7:00 am. 

They encourage commuters to plan for extra travel time, and to drive safely through the area.

TPO, TAC & CAC Meetings

Citrus County, Florida-- Have concerns about transportation in Citrus County? If so, you may be interested in attending an upcoming meeting in Lecanto.

According to the county, The Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), the Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) will meet Wednesday, March 6, to discuss the business of the Transportation Planning Organization.   

The TAC will meet at 1 p.m. and the CAC will meet at 3 p.m.
